How do I set up a website for my family?

I%26#039;m looking to get a family domain name for cheap and have a free website host that doesn%26#039;t cost any money or is at least minimal. I would like to post pictures/videos/comments. I don%26#039;t know how to develop web pages so i%26#039;ll need something simple to follow...help...I don%26#039;t know how to go about this.

Reply:If you are serious about websites either for personal or your business, don%26#039;t go to free web hosting as they are usually not reliable and you may end up losing all your hard work. Free web hosts usually put advertisements on your websites and it could be annoying.

Its a great start to start with. theres only like 5 -7 parts to the tutorials I think and they%26#039;re only like around 5 min a piece. They%26#039;re quick and they dont talk a lot, more like show but they do eplain things to you. the pace is fast so you%26#039;re never board and it explains everything you need to know. As far as a host goes I suggest you use one of the following:

Each has their limitations but all of them are free services. Geocities is great for like single web pages that dont have a lot of content. Maybe for posting a resume or something but the bandwidth allotment is horrible. Bandwidth allotment or data transfer rate which host call it is basically how many people can access your pages at teh same time before it crashes. Geocites gives you a really short amount which means if you have a hand full of people viewing your site everyday it will crash everytime.


Tripod is in my opinion horrible but it does the trick. Its so horrible because the ads completely over rule your design and you aren%26#039;t allowed to change them. The ads are google ads adn they completely rule your page. they look like newspaper clippings honestly which is so unattractive.


Bravenet.com is a whole lot better. They have ads but they are a bit more consipcuous and you get way more bandwitdth and server spaces for pics and even vids.


The best by far for free hosting in my opinion is freespaces.com . Freespaces has ads but they are so inconspicuous you dont notice. also your ads are in a div format which means they pop up in teh top without pushing your page down or altering it at all plus the ad has a %26quot;x%26quot; button to close. Best of all the ad only appears on the 1st page (index) of your site. It competely leaves the rest alone which is so great.
