I recommend you look for cheap instead of free. Totally free hosts are generally going to have some sort of catch, such as advertising banners, pop-up ads, etc. Free services normally make you use their domain name, as well, and you really should get your own domain name, they%26#039;re cheap and it will save you a lot of hassle if you ever want to move your web site to another hosting company.

For cheap domain registration, I%26#039;d go with GoDaddy http://www.godaddy.com/ - $8.95 per year for .COM registrations. If you don%26#039;t care about the .COM extension, you can register a .INFO domain for only $1.99.

GoDaddy also has very inexpensive hosting, their economy plan starts at $3.95 per month, if you prepay for 12 months it will run you about $43.

Another cheap option is Doteasy http://www.doteasy.com/, they offer free hosting when you purchase your domain through them for $25. This free account doesn%26#039;t have as many features as the cheapest GoDaddy plan, so you may be better off paying a bit more with GoDaddy if you can afford it.

If you want to do your own research on web hosts, the forums at Web Hosting Talk http://www.webhostingtalk.com/ contain a wealth of information. There are thousands of web hosts to choose from, so it can be a little overwhelming to a beginner.

There are many options here. If you want a professional website with a custom name you%26#039;ll need to have the site hosted and purchase the domain name. A decent hosting company shouldn%26#039;t charge you more than $10 a month for everything you need. Some will even register the domain name for you for free. However, I don%26#039;t recommend letting them register the name. Instead, go to a place like http://www.networksolutions.com and register the name yourself. The cost will not exceed $35 a year for the name. This will get you a professional looking website such as myunclebill.com

If you%26#039;re looking for an absolutely free host, there are plenty to Google. This option will get you an address such as www.geocities.com/myunclebill/index.html...

Hope some of this helps.
